Dr. Ben is a former hockey player with the OHL’s Plymouth Whalers and University of Guelph’s varisity team. After multiple surgeries on his hip and knee, he focused on his studies at UoG completing his undergraduate degree in Human Kinetics with Honours with a minor in Nutrition.
Continuing to rehab from his surgeries, Dr. Ben attended New York Chiropractic College for his Doctor of Chiropractic with additional certifications in Sport Science and Human Performance.
He then completed his clinical rotation in Buffalo where he served as senior clerk and developed/taught classes in modern methodolgies in exercise rehabilitation for students and staff. During this time, he travelled to McMaster University on weekends to complete his Contemporary Medical Acupuncture certification.
Since then, Dr. Ben has completed additional certicications to become a Neurofunctional Sports Performance Practitioner (advanced acupuncture program) and Functional Sports Medicine provider (nutrition and lab assessment).
After seeing multiple practitioners across different disciplines to help him return to competitive sport, Dr. Ben was left frustrated with the traditional approach to care. 12 years following his first surgery, he is now training for his first half-marathon after being told he would never be able to run again.
Dr. Ben created iON to provide complete solutions to help his clients reach their health + performance goals. He believes it is the repsonsibility of practitioners to find the best possible treatment approach by utilizing modern techniques and integrated care plans that are optimized to work towards the same goal.
